Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.
Mark 13:31
A banknote is in itself just a piece of printed paper. Although it is expensive to produce, it has no great material value. Nevertheless, I can buy two big bags of food with a hundred dollar bill. Why? Because behind that note lies a monetary system that guarantees me the amount written on it.
This also applies to what God tells us in the Bible. Outwardly, it is a printed book that can be bought for little money. But the Bible has a value far beyond the cost of paper and printing. It contains promises that are backed by the guarantee of the living God. He cannot lie and fulfils all that He promises:
“He who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life” (John 5:24).“‘Come now, and let us reason together,’ says the Lord, ‘though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow’” (Isaiah 1:18).“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand” (John 10:28).“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; you are Mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you” (Isaiah 43:1–2).
