He who heeds the word wisely will find good, and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Proverbs 16:20 How happy the great One who cares for the poor,Who set aside riches and came from above,And selfless–in love and in mercy so pure–Gave all that He had on the cross. O what love! How happy the one whose great sins are forgiv’nWho, cleansed by Christ’s blood, is no longer defiled,Who can say: “I received perfect grace from heaven,For God has received me and made me His child.”How happy the one who these words reads and hears–God’s teaching and wisdom, they’re now his delight. They’re true milk and honey–unchanged through the years,They guide his whole pathway with purest of light. How happy the one who now trusts Him each day,The mighty, eternal, great God–never wrong,Who knows Him in all of life’s uncharted way,Who builds his house safely on this Rock so strong. How happy the one who will shortly be raised;Safe, trusting in Jesus, the Saviour who died.Eternal his blessings, eternal his praise,When he sees then his Saviour–Christ glorified.
